I create content for businesses, different types of content. Sometimes I make drone videos or a quick 30 second reel, other times a promotional video for a business. At times it’s hard to convince a business that a video will serve them well. A lot of business owners feel that they’ve been selling so far and really don’t have a need to make videos for their social media or website. As a videographer we have to sell our services, I get it, not everyone will buy and we have to vet the serious businesses from the simpletons who are satisfied to stay where they are. No matter what you tell a business sometimes not everyone will agree to make a video or buy your service. What’s the drawback to not doing so though, I mean they’ve been making money so why change anything?
Per Forbes Magazine social videos attract more eyes, why? Well social videos are shared 1200% more than a picture or an article. Naturally if more eyes are watching your content that means the chances of you selling your brand or product has grown significantly, especially in the social media world that we live in today. I see so many businesses taking pictures on their phones and placing them on their social media platforms, be it Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Twitter, Snapchat or any other service. Do pictures provide value? Of course but if the difference is 1200% I’d rather do the video even if it costs more.
Let’s assume that you own a roofing company and 40 people visit your website monthly. They are looking to renovate for example and the costs for that is anywhere between $10,000 to $150,000. Your website only have pictures and texts describing the services that you provide. From the 40 that stumble upon your website only 1 decides to move ahead, agrees to your service costs and spends $10,000. Now if you added a video and that generated a 1200% likelihood that your website would be shared of course your numbers would drastically improve. For the purposes of this example let’s say from the 1200% (1200%*40 = 360) only 40 additional people decide to visit your website that is 100% more than what you originally had. From the additional 40 people again only 1 decides to buy from you. That generates you $10,000-$15,000. Think about it for a moment a $600-$1000 video can generate you a minimum of $10,000. CHA CHING value proposition!
Do videos make a difference? I think the numbers speak for themselves, and remember the numbers I provided were pretty modest. The next time a business owner says they don’t need a video because they’re doing well. Ask them how many customers are they willing to leave on the table or hey business owner do you like apples? 1200% increase in shares how you like them apples?
