S5L started with a camera and not much else.
Shabeeb wanted to shoot — that was the whole plan. Good footage, good clients, keep going.
Laylo, our co-founder, saw something bigger. Not hard pushing, just consistent questions: what happens after the video? Who is it for? What’s it supposed to move?
Those questions changed the business. A camera makes footage. A strategy makes work — bids, vendor lists, invitations to tender, the right person applying for a job. It took us a while to understand the difference, and it’s the same difference most of the AEC industry hasn’t made yet. Firms shoot a before-and-after, post it, and wait. We know that instinct, because we started there.
Today we’re a team of 26. Videographers on site, editors, social managers, SEO and AEO specialists, designers, email marketers, and LinkedIn specialists who do nothing but this. We didn’t build that to shoot more video. We built it because getting a construction company in front of an owner takes more than a camera — it takes people who understand the industry, the bid process, and the platform where those decisions get made.
We still love the camera. We just know what it’s for now.
